There was once a very large Great White caught in the ocean near my hometown by a local fisherman. Great White was mistakenly tangled in the fishing net and was subsequently killed.
The Great White was declared the largest one ever caught by someone in this coastal town. The local paper wrote about it and I remember the interview by the fisherman. What stuck in memory was, he was sorry that he caught and had to kill Great White. He realized that this particular Great White had been in the sea a very long time. This interview plus photos are chronicled on the wall of a local restaurant in this town.
